日本平面設計的前後左右

長期以來日本平面設計扮演著亞洲設計雁行領航的角色,為了探討日本現代平面設計發展的軌跡,國立台灣師範大學台灣設計口2023年9月5日至9月28日舉辦展覽:「日本平面設計的前後左右:The Genealogy of Japanese  Graphic Design 」,展出日本現代平面設計發展歷程的經典作品,藉此探討其背後所構成的人脈資源、社團組織以及協作力量,他們採取組織嚴密、群體作業、攜手並進的手段去形塑日本現代平面設計特有的風貌與發展的系譜。本次策展概念主要根據多川精一、永井一正、近藤 聰、五十嵐威暢、石原義久所組成「グラフィックデザインの世紀編集委員會」編著的《グラフィックデザインの世紀》(美術出版社,2008)書中區分了明治世代、大正世代、昭和世代的階段分期,以及選列其中不同世代的代表設計家作為基礎架構;另外則參考山名文夫著《體驗的デザイン史》(ダヴィッド社,1976)、勝見勝著《勝見勝第4卷作家論》(講談社,1986)、龜倉雄策主編《グラフィックデザイン 100號》(講談社,1986)、田中一光企劃的《聞き書きデザイン史》(六耀社,2001)、山形季央《日本のグラフィック100年》(PIE,2018)等日本平面設計史相關專書,再從中挑選林磐聳教授所典藏的原版海報及設計文獻,加以擴充構成本次的展覽內容,從中梳理出日本知名設計家相互之間清晰可見的脈絡關係,可供未來台灣設計界研究或借鑒日本平面設計發展之參考。

 

The Japanese graphic design has played a pioneering role in Asian Design for long. To explore the development of modern graphic design in Japan, NTNU Taiwan Design Corner holds the exhibition, “The Genealogy of Japanese Graphic Design,” from September 5 to September 28, 2023. The classic works in the development of the Japanese modern graphic design will be exhibited to probe into the social network, community organization, and collaborative forces behind them. By means of strict organization, teamwork, and collaboration, they shape the genealogy of Japanese graphic design with the exclusive style and development. The curating concept is mainly based on The Era of Graphic Design (Bijutsu Shuppan Sha, 2008), compiled by the members of “The Editorial Board of the Era of Graphic Design,” Seiichi Tagawa, Kazumasa Nagai, Kondo Satoshi, Takenobu Igarashi, and Yoshihisa Ishihara. The book is divided into the Meiji era, the Taisho era, and the Showa era, and the representative designers of the different eras are selected as the framework. Besides, the exhibition content is expanded by referring to the Japanese books related to graphic design including The History of Experience Design (David Sha, 1976) written by Ayao Yamana, On Writers Vol.4 (Kodansha, 1986) written by Katzumie Masaru, Graphic Design No.100 (Kodansha, 1986) edited by Yusaku Kamekura, The Story of Design History (Rikuyu Sha, 2001) planned by Ikko Tanaka, and 100 Years of Japanese Graphic Design (PIE, 2018) written by Toshio Yamagata and selecting the original posters and design documents collected by Prof. Lin Pan-song to organize the clear and visible context between the famous Japanese designers as the reference for the future research of the design world in Taiwan and the development of graphic design in Japan.
